If you haven’t noticed the furor over pink yet, you’ll definitely be tickled by it this summer. Two of Pantone’s forerunning fashion hues for summer 2011 are in the pink family: Honeysuckle (a reddish pink) and Silver Peony (more akin to white rose). Youthful and lighthearted, pink is the perfect hue to impart a sense of optimism to your clients. Ashley Adams, marketing coordinator for S & S Activewear, cites two main reasons why pink is currently prevalent and popular in the wholesale industry. For one, there are an impressive variety of pinks available. “You no longer just have plain old pink to choose from,” Adams says. “There’s soft pink, berry pink, and dark pink,” to name a few. Another reason involves the heightened visibility of breast cancer awareness. “The cause has expanded so much in the past couple of years,” Adams states, “and has such a strong following that we see many companies offering pink products, with a certain percentage of proceeds going to the organizations.” “Pink is very hot right now. Victoria Secret has met a lot of success with its PINK stores” by basically marketing the color itself as a product. Pink is applicable across numerous industries, whether corporate, leisure or academic. Lighter shades closer to white are most fashionable for men. For logos and apparel embroidery, consider pink alongside brights such as aqua, lemon and key lime, particularly for resort and sports-related items.
